Margarita Jell-O Shots

Who doesn’t love a good jello shot? Well my sister doesn’t like the typical vodka jello shots so I had to improvise. I ALWAYS make jell-o shots for our annual family camping weekend. I did it once about 10 years ago and it has been the Friday night tradition ever since. This past weekend even my Aunt Laurie showed up a little late and the first thing out of her mouth was “I was hoping we didn’t miss the Jell-o shots?”. She didn’t so life was good. Anyways, I switched the vodka our for Tequila a couple years ago, salted the rim and served it with a lime …. the family still loves it and my sister definitely enjoys them.

Serving Size: 12 shots

Ingredients

  • 1 Pack of Lime Jell-O

  • 1 Cup Boiling Hot Water

  • 2/3 Cup Cold Water

  • 1/3 Cup Tequila

  • Lime Juice & Salt for Rim

  • 1 Lime, sliced

Directions

  • Mix Jello Packet as per instructions with boiling hot water in a bowl. Mix until powder is fully dissolved. Add in cold water and tequila, mix well. Pour mixture evenly into plastic or paper shot glasses. Refrigerate for 3-5 hours.

  • Once ready to serve, remove from fridge, rim with lime juice then salt and serve with a little piece of lime.

  • If you are feeling extra wild, increase tequila to 1/2 cup and reduce cold water to 1/2 cup. I always triple the recipe and do different flavors of Jell-O to mix it up.
