Japanese Teppanyaki Dinner & Steak/Ginger Sauces

This has to be one of the top 5 meals we have EVER made! I will tell you right now though … it isn’t one of our typical EASY recipes. It takes a little bit of time and effort for sure but it was so worth it! There are also so many options to make part of the recipe from scratch and choose an easier option/pre-made option for the other parts. For example instead of making the teriyaki sauce from scratch you can buy a container of it. Or purchase the ginger/steak sauce and make the rest of the recipe. Your choice but all of the options are there!

  • 1 Large Zucchini, sliced

  • 3-4 Tbsp. Olive Oil

  • 1 Tbsp. Margarine

  • Garlic Powder, Salt & Pepper to taste

Directions

  • You can make the Steak Sauce and Ginger Sauce ahead of time. I make them the day before to save myself some time and allow the flavours to work together.

  • For the Steak Sauce - combine all ingredients in a magic bullet until smooth. Add additional seasonings to taste if necessary. Store covered in the fridge.

  • For the Ginger Sauce - combine all ingredients together and mix well with a fork. Store covered in the fridge.

  • For the Teriyaki Sauce - combine all ingredients in a medium sauce pan. Bring to a boil then reduce heat and allow to cook for 5-6 minutes. This can also be made ahead of time if desired. It can be stored in the fridge for 2-3 days.

  • In a large pan heat 1-2 Tbsp. of oil on medium heat. Add all vegetables, salt, pepper and garlic powder. Add a tbsp or two of water as needed. Cover and allow to cook. Once almost cooked, add a couple tablespoons of ginger sauce, mix well, reduce heat and allow to simmer.

  • In a separate pan at the same time add a tbsp. of olive oil and turn to medium heat. Add the steak strips, season with salt, pepper and garlic powder and allow to cook about 1-2 way. Add in teriyaki sauce, mix well and continue cooking. Reduce heat and simmer.

  • In a third pan, add the margarine and melt over medium heat. Add the shrimp. Season with salt, pepper and garlic powder. Cook fully over medium heat. Add in a couple tbsp. of Ginger sauce 1/2 way through and mix well.

  • Plate all ingredients together. Drizzle ginger sauce over shrimp and vegetables. Use the steak sauce to drizzle over or dip the steak and rice into! YOU’RE WELCOME!
