Perfect Burger Buns

It is burger season and lets be honest, aside from the burger patty itself the bun is the next most critical part of the burger. The bun can make or break the whole burger … too big, too small, falls apart to easy, rock hard … I could go on. Typically you can find regular buns at the grocery store and get by just fine … but when burger week is upon us do you want to just ‘get by just fine’? We don’t. We by no means judge you when you make the decision to grab the store bought buns … we do it too, but when you’ve got a little bit of time, this recipe is the way to go!

Serving Size: 8-10 Buns

Ingredients

  • 3.5 - 4 Cups Flour

  • 1 Cup Warm Water

  • 1/3 Cup Vegetable Oil

  • 1/4 Cup Sugar

  • 1 Package Instant Dry Yeast

  • 2 Eggs

  • 1 Tsp. Salt

  • 1 Tbsp. White Sesame Seeds

  • 1 Tbsp. Black Sesame Seeds

Directions

  • In a large bowl pour in the warm water then sprinkle the yeast on top. Allow it to sit there 5-10 minutes then lightly mix it in.

  • Add 1 egg, the sugar, salt & vegetable oil to the bowl and mix. Add in the flour 1 cup at a timr and mix well.

  • Once it starts getting difficult to mix, use your hands to knead the ball of dough. You will know you have the correct consistency when it isn’t too sticky or too dry.

  • Leave the ball of dough in the bowl and cover with a dry dish towel. Leave covered minimally 30 minutes to allow the dough to double in size.

  • Preheat oven to 425F degrees. Take the large ball of dough and evenly separate into 8-10 smaller balls and lay out on a baking sheet lined with a silicone baking sheet.

  • Allow the smaller balls to sit on the baking sheet for about 30 minutes to continue rising.

  • Take the last egg and whisk it. Using a brush, egg wash the tops of all buns then sprinkle with both sesame seeds. Bake 10-12 minutes or until golden brown. Voila!

  • Side note: If you want a variety of buns only put the sesame seeds on 1/2 of the buns.
