Crispy Buffalo Chicken Burger

Is it just me or is a crispy chicken burger a restaurant classic? It is one of those meals that you can always count on when eating out no matter where you choose to eat. Almost every restaurant has a buffalo chicken (or a variation of) on their menu. It is hard for a restaurant to mess this meal up. Well let me tell you, making it from scratch leaves room for LOTS of messing up. Have no fear though. We figured it out and we NAILED it! This burger is topped with our homemade Blue Cheese Dressing and it is AMAZING! We also paired the burger with our cranberry nut salad drizzled with a homemade Blue Cheese Vinaigrette … YUM!

Breading Ingredients

  • 1 Cup Flour

  • 2 Eggs

  • 1 Tbsp. Hot Sauce

  • 1 Tsp. Salt

  • 1 Tsp. Pepper

  • 1/2 Tsp. Paprika

Hot Sauce Ingredients

  • 1 Cup Franks Hot Sauce

  • 1-2 Small Parmesan Rinds

  • 2 Tbsp. Butter

  • 1 Tbsp. Garlic Powder

Additional Ingredients

  • 2 Chicken Breast

  • 2 Buns

  • 2 Cups Vegetable Oil

  • 4-6 Tbsp. Blue Cheese Dressing

  • 2-3 Tbsp. Margarine

  • Lettuce

  • Tomato Slices

  • Red Onion, sliced

Directions

  • Pre-heat oven to 350F degrees. Heat oil in a medium sized pot until it reaches 350F degrees. Combine all breading ingredients in a bowl except the eggs and hot sauce, combine those 2 ingredients in a separate bowl.

  • Dip the chicken breasts first in the egg mixture then in the flour mixture. Once done, gently lay each piece in the oil and begin cooking.

  • Cook the chicken evenly on each side, flipping through 1/2 way to allow browning on both sides. Ensure the chicken is cooked to 165F degrees then remove from oil and place on a rack with a catch tray or plate underneath so any excess oil can drip out.

  • While the chicken is cooking, combine all hot sauce ingredients in a small pot and simmer over low-medium heat. Also while the chicken is cooking, butter the buns and toast lightly in the oven. Remove the buns once browned to your desire.

  • Once the chicken is fully cooked, ensuring that there is still a plate or catch tray under the rack and drizzle or drench depending on your preference with the hot sauce.

  • Dress bottom buns with desired toppings then add chicken, top bun and enjoy!
