Garlic Knots
Buns are a Thanksgiving staple. We typically go for large Thanksgiving’s so the go-to bun are the easy/delicious/cheap dinner rolls. They are perfect. However, when you get the opportunity to have a small Thanksgiving meal with just immediate family (thanks a lot COVID!) you want to take advantage of the creativity opportunity in front of you. So these Garlic Knots are a great option and they are easy to make!
Serving Size: 8-12 Garlic Knots
Dough Ingredients
3.5 Cups Flour
1.5 Cups Warm Water
2.5 Tsp. Yeast
2 Tbsp. Olive Oil
1 Tbsp. Sugar
3/4 Tsp. Salt
Topping Ingredients
5 Tbsp. Margarine, melted
1 Tsp. Garlic Powder
1 Tsp. Italian Seasoning
1/2 Tsp. Parlsey Flakes
1/4 Tsp. Coarse Salt
Directions
Whisk together the warm water, sugar and yeast in a medium bowl. Set aside for 5 minutes. Allow the mixture to get bubbly.
Add in the salt, olive oil and 1/2 of the flour. Mix well. Add in remaining flour and mix well again. Knead using your hands to ensure it is fully mixed. Form into a large bowl.
Lightly grease the bowl with oil or margarine and place the dough back in then cover the bowl with a dry dish towel. Allow the dough to rise minimally 1 hour.
After 1hr passes, pre-heat oven to 400F degrees.
Lightly flour the counter and separate the dough into equal portions. Roll each portion into rope shapes at least 6inches long. Twist each portioned off section of dough into a knot and lay on a silicone lined baking sheet. Repeat for each portion.
In a small bowl combine the topping ingredients and mix. Brush each knot with the mixture.
Bake 20-22 minutes or until golden brown. DO NOT through away the excess melted margarine mix. Once I have removed the knots from the oven and they have fully cooled I always brush each of them AGAIN and sprinkle additional seasoning if needed.
