Buffalo Jack Fruit Sliders

For those of you have followed along or looked down the recipe list … you will know that we have a serious love for BUFFALO anything, Buffalo wings, Buffalo dip, shredded buffalo chicken… and now these Sliders! These are completely vegetarian and can easily become vegan with a couple switches! SOOOOO drool worthy and worthy all the effort!

Slider Ingredients

  • 1 Can Jack Fruit, drained

  • 1/2 White Onion, diced

  • 1 Cup Barbecue Sauce (we recommend our homemade BBQ sauce) or 1/4 Cup Franks Hot Sauce

  • 3-4 Tsp. JamDinners Buffalo Wing Dry Rub

  • 2 Cloves Garlic, minced

  • 2 Tbsp. Olive Oil

  • Salt and Pepper to taste

Slider Toppings

  • 3-4 Fresh Buns

  • Coleslaw

  • Avocado

  • Tomato Slices

  • Red Onion, sliced

  • Jalapenos, sliced

Directions

  • If making the BBQ sauce, then in a small sauce pan, combine the hot sauce and the barbecue sauce ingredients and simmer together over low heat. Drain the can of jackfruit and shred immediately. I found that pulling apart by hand worked the best. Heat the olive oil in a medium sauce pan and add onions when oil is hot. Saute about 5-6 minutes then add the garlic and cook for 2-3 minutes. Add in the jack fruit, cook for a couple minutes then add in the barbecue sauce. Stir well and bring to simmer. Add a couple tbsp. of water throughout if the mixture is too thick. Allow to cook for 15-20 minutes.

  • If not making a BBQ sauce, add a little oil to a pan, heat over medium heat and add the jackfruit. Season with our buffalo dry rub and hot sauce. Mix well.

  • Remove the jackfruit from heat, dress the buns with desired toppings, scoop shredded jackfruit on top and enjoy!
